LAST CALL FOR THE CATHOLIC VOTE

I’ve been away, unavoidably out of touch.

I’ll try and catch up.

One  wishes that every Catholic Parish in Connecticut had been invited to think seriously about the “other” issues, those unrelated to jobs, the economy, taxes and the national debt.

The “other” issues are related to the insidious potential implications of Obamacare (the new, rammed-through healthcare law) that could reinstate Partial Birth Abortion as a legal procedure:  That could decimate the medical care and cost of wellness for senior-seniors (those over seventy):  That could gut Medicare – read WSJournal op-eds of 09/09/2010 “How Obamacare Guts Medicare” by Peter Ferrara & Larry Hunter; and the piece by Dr. Scherz “Dear Patients – Vote to repeal Obamacare of 09/01.2010;  and the article by Dr. saul Greenfield of 09/07/2010 “In Defense of Physician Autonomy”.

Those cogent, calm evaluations by physicians and medical professionals clearly show how those that voted for the “unread and non-evaluated” Obamacare then-proposed law – that Pelosi steamrolled through against the will of the American people in the most extreme example of political arrogance – should be simply cast out of office.  That means Courtney, especially Courtney, and DeLauro, Larson, Murphy, Himes.

This is the time to vote for Republicans, who will at least force a re-evaluation of Obamacare across the board, and effect sensible changes (whether with or without repeal…Repeal is not the crucial goal – Serious Change is).

Catholics should vote for Linda McMahon for Senate (because Blumenthal is a one hundred percent pro-abortion advocate and would side with Obama nad Pelosi on every aspect of failed governance).

Catholics should vote for Sam Caligiuri and for Janet Peckinpaugh for Congress in those two Connecticut districts (the 2nd and the 5th).

And in the other three Congressional districts (1st, 3rd and 4th) Catholics should vote AGAINST Larson, DeLauro and Himes.  These are the pre-eminent champions of late-term abortion, that procedure by D&E that dismembers potentially viable infants in the womb – 20,000 of those children a year – that is in essence infanticide.

If all the Bishops of America were like Archbishop Chaput of Denver, we Catholics in the Northeast would have had several pastorals helping us to think about and decide how to vote in the context of the “Catholic Political Vocation”.   It is a Chaput speech and thesis well worth downloading and cogitating on before voting.

Let’s fight for LIFE.

More tomorrow.  God Bless and good night.  Juan O’Callahan
